Sustainable Green Recovery: Bio-Based Industries in the driving seat

08 September 2020

The workshop is organised by BBI JU and BIC as part of the Science | Business web conference Industrial R&D: Europe first?.

The conference brought together national ministers, EU officials, industry executives and researchers to discuss how to bring industry back to Europe in the post-COVID-19 era, as well as to measure the impact that the ‘Europe first’ policies may have on companies headquartered in Europe and multinationals with operations in Europe. Circular economy and sustainable industries were at the heart of the discussion.

The objective of the workshop was to shape recommendations to the European Commission and Member State policy makers on the topic of contribution of the bio-based industries to a circular and sustainable green recovery of Europe. It also highlighted the role of the bio-based industries in the EU’s Green Deal, as well as the industry’s expectations for the future. The outcomes of the workshop were presented during the plenary and featured in the conference report.
